English 11: Literary Studies
LAST UPDATED: Friday, May 6th
Brief Course OverviewEnglish 11: Literary Studies is designed to provide students with both a set of skills vital to expressing oneself in a variety of ways as well as building competency and confidence in all things literacy and communication. Literary Studies incorporates numerous written works and connects them to a time, topic, and place in history.
While Literature is vital and our course is organized around major bodies of work, it’s important to note that our English class will expand on our existing understanding of writing, creative expression, and generally aim to improve our communication skills amongst a variety of texts. As a result, this course is going to be built around a focus for how different writing strategies change, inform, and inspire us in our traditional and digitally-rich worlds. DISCLAIMER: Education is an evolving practice, and therein, elements of our program such as grading criteria, units, and expectations will be subject to slight changes if the need arises. Furthermore, I am of the mindset that if someone is more knowledgeable, more talented, or has a better idea than I do, it's of far greater benefit to my students to use another teacher's material over my own. As a result, not all content that is listed under Lesson Plans and Organization are my own intellectual property, and are listed only for the benefit of student and parent access. I will do my best to make sure the proper creators are credited for their work, and I will be freely making adaptions/modifications as we go along. If there are any concerns, please contact me.
Also, Please Note! Our semester tends to get very busy, but it is still my goal to insure that all assignments and semester lessons are accessible for parents and students alike. If the website has not been updated within the past 7 days, feel free to send me an email and remind me. Thanks.
