Classroom Expectations
The following expectations are for ease of access, transparency, and to insure that everyone is on the same page within the classroom.
I consider the classroom to be a place where the opportunity to learn is fostered, and above all, protected. Students should never be made to feel that their learning will be impeded due to the interactions within the classroom. The classroom I seek to be a part of is one of mutual respect, curiousity, and care. As a result, the following expectations will be upheld within our classroom. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me personally to discuss them.

Course Expectations:
In order to be successful throughout this course, I expect both students to meet a handful of expectations that will help us get the most out of our time together:
- Mutual Respect -- Treat the students, teacher, and learning space with dignity, safety, and positivity. It is every student’s responsibility not to interfere in their peer’s learning.
- Self-Reliance -- Take responsibility for your actions, attendance, work habits, deadlines and progress.
- Curiosity -- Ask thoughtful questions of your teacher, yourself, and your classmates, as well as ask for help when you need it.
- Work Hard to Shake Off the Fear of Making Mistakes -- Mistakes are one of the best ways we can learn, and I’m looking forward to celebrating them because they always give us something to learn. I want us to make the classroom a safe space to celebrate our successes and our challenges.
- Be Mindful of Technology -- Cellphones are not to be used during instructional time, unless expressly requested by the teacher. There is a time and a place for the use of technology, but improper use or timing interferes with learning. Lakes District Secondary has a firm cellphone policy that will be upheld:
- At LDSS, we understand that a cell phone can be a useful tool in the context of student learning and as such we want to promote responsible uswe of this technology. Cell phone use that interferes with learning is prohibited and may result in the following consequences:
- be given a warning;
- asked to give the phone to teacher for class;
- have the cell phone removed until the end of the day.
- Continued student offenses may result in the cell phone being kept until a parent meeting and/or suspension.

- Attendance -- Insure that you are on time for class, as attendance is essential. We will be engaging in a lot of discussions and interactivities. It is your responsibility to notify me of any absences, asking how to make up missed work, taking a hall pass with you when leaving the classroom during instructional time, and insuring that you are on time each day.
Class Procedures:
Attendance
- Attendance is mandatory and essential, especially as this course is interactive and activity-based. Do not be late for class.
- Absence: if you are absent, it is your responsibility to ask me how you can make up the work missed.
- Check with the teacher before leaving the classroom; you must have the hall pass with you.
- Should not be used during class time unless they are part of the lesson.
- Completed work should be handed in to the “In-Box” for our class, located near the door.
- If you have been away (sick, sports, etc.) and have missed assignments or handouts, you are responsible to either speak with Mr. Bridge personally, or check our website for missing content.
